A 90-Day Business Networking Plan You Can Actually Maintain
A realistic quarter-long plan for mapping relationships, choosing weekly actions, tracking follow-up, and reviewing progress.
Choose one primary networking community. Map 25 to 40 meaningful relationships and record what each person does, cares about, and may need. Set a small weekly rhythm: three follow-ups, two introductions, and one reconnection.
Days 1–30: build the foundation
Choose one primary networking community. Map 25 to 40 meaningful relationships and record what each person does, cares about, and may need. Set a small weekly rhythm: three follow-ups, two introductions, and one reconnection.
Focus on consistency and accurate notes. Do not turn the first month into a race for immediate referrals.
Days 31–60: deepen the right relationships
Schedule purposeful one-to-one conversations. Ask about goals, ideal connections, current obstacles, and ways you may be useful. Keep promises quickly. Share resources only when they genuinely match the person’s needs.
Review which relationships are becoming reciprocal, which need patience, and which are not a fit.
Days 61–90: create a repeatable system
Make clear referral requests, introduce people who should know one another, and review your event and follow-up choices. Identify the two or three behaviors that created the most trust and repeat them next quarter.
Measure conversations, follow-ups, introductions, referrals given, referrals received, and relationships strengthened. Revenue matters, but it is usually a lagging result.
Make better networking a weekly practice.
The Master Networker’s Book turns preparation, contact notes, referrals, and follow-up into one undated 90-day system.
